Our client, located on the South Shore of Montreal and a key player in Quebec's sustainable economy, is seeking a Health and Safety Coordinator. The incumbent is responsible for implementing, developing, deploying, and maintaining programs, processes, and training plans related to safety, industrial hygiene, site security, and emergency measures. Working closely with their director, they provide guidance and support the development of the operations department in relation to safe work processes, the implementation of policies and programs, legislative requirements, and training, inspection, and audit requirements.

Tasks
Acting as an expert and mentor in health and safety for employees and the plant's management team;
Implementing appropriate measures regarding training, practices, health and safety policies, and procedures, and ensuring updates to prevent incidents;
Designing health and safety procedures and forms according to company and project partner guidelines;
Collaborating with their director to develop and implement health and safety management processes;
Actively participating in the development of training manuals, coordinating the deployment of the training program, and delivering training;
Actively participating in the development of the health and safety management system (inspections, audits, investigations, safety interactions (BBS), lockout, work permits, etc.);
Contributing to the implementation of the industrial hygiene program;
Ensuring proper training in the use of extinguishing agents and that operational teams are always prepared to handle emergency situations;
Providing adequate coverage during plant emergency situations and maintaining the plant's fire protection equipment and systems. Preparing and coordinating periodic evacuation drills;
Developing, maintaining, and updating policies and procedures related to fire protection systems and equipment, including developing and implementing a maintenance and inspection program, along with relevant training to ensure proper use;
Performing other related tasks as required.

Job requirements
Bachelor’s degree in health and safety, industrial hygiene, chemical or mechanical engineering;
Minimum of five (5) years of relevant health and safety experience in a continuous process industrial environment (chemicals, oil, pulp and paper, wastewater treatment);
Knowledge of continuous improvement tools, responsible management programs, and risk analysis methods;
Experience in plant start-up and planned shutdown (turnaround);
Knowledge of applicable health and safety laws, standards, and regulations;
Knowledge of WHMIS and TDG;
Ability to use specific EHS software (CONFORMiT, Cognibox, Maximo, etc.);
Proficiency in MS Office;
Bilingual in written and spoken communication, with strong written French skills.
