Under the authority of the General Management, the incumbent will provide strategic and mobilizing leadership to their team and will be responsible for managing the entire negotiation service and the service for the implementation of collective agreements. These services are at the core of the SPGQ’s mission. The role involves playing a leading role in promoting and defending the rights and interests of SPGQ members. This mandate also includes the negotiation and implementation of collective agreements as well as improving the working conditions of members. The director will plan, organize, direct, and coordinate all activities within their sector. Additionally, they will assist and advise the organization’s management on issues related to their sector.
Tasks
Develop the action plan for the sector in alignment with the strategic orientations and values of the SPGQ.
Plan, organize, direct, coordinate, and evaluate all programs, activities, and human, financial, and material resources of the service, in compliance with the objectives, strategic orientations, and values of the SPGQ.
Guide the various work committees within the sector and collaborate with senior management in establishing organizational priorities.
Apply SPGQ policies regarding labor relations.
Participate in the management committee and inform senior management about the progress of the action plan for the sector and related issues.
Ensure the mobilization and management of human resources within the sector and the quality of services provided to union members.
Ensure the improvement, strict and transparent application of established processes and rules.
Oversee knowledge transfer and resource integration during team changes.
Participate, at the request of the general director or executive committee, in union-related instances.
Ensure the effective handling of complaints and grievances, including representing members during hearings and arbitration.
Collaborate with the management committee in developing the strategic and operational planning of the organization to achieve the SPGQ’s mission and objectives.
Perform other related tasks as requested by the supervisor.

Job requirements
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, or a related field relevant to the responsibilities of the position.
Significant experience of at least seven (7) to ten (10) years in labor relations.
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Recognized as an experienced manager, agile in communication (written and oral) and interpersonal relations.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
A master’s degree or professional certifications, such as CRHA or CRIA, is an asset.
Experience working in a unionized environment is an asset.
Good knowledge of the SPGQ’s operations, its bodies, and the labor relations environment in the public service and parapublic units, or experience within a union, is an asset.
Good knowledge of the collective agreement articles related to CMRP (3-4.00) or CRP is an asset.
A good understanding of the public service and the current context in which it operates is an asset.
