Ready to take the wheel in logistics leadership? Our client, a leader in automotive manufacturing, is gearing up to welcome a Logistics Supervisor for a newly created position at their Woodbridge, ON facility. Reporting directly to the Materials Manager, you’ll be steering a team of seasoned Shipping and Receiving Supervisors with a focus on optimizing warehouse operations and logistics management. With your leadership skills and expertise in logistics systems, you’ll assess, improve, and implement best practices to boost efficiency and performance. Tasks

  • Lead and coordinate a team of supervisors and operational staff, ensuring smooth execution of daily shipping, receiving, material handling, and yard maintenance activities.
  • Track and manage attendance, performance, training, and staffing levels for team members. Address performance issues through coaching and corrective measures when needed.
  • Ensure operational targets are consistently met, including on-time deliveries and efficient truck movements. Optimize scheduling and dock operations to maintain workflow continuity.
  • Maximize workforce efficiency to achieve accurate and timely shipments. Resolve delays or disruptions by collaborating with relevant teams and monitoring performance metrics.
  • Manage departmental budgets, working with Procurement to optimize carrier costs and control expenses such as overtime.
  • Oversee packaging and containerization processes, including the handling of returnable packaging and timely repairs or decommissioning at the end of program cycles.
  • Ensure full compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards. Conduct regular safety audits, deliver training sessions, and lead investigations into incidents.
  • Develop and maintain forklift certification programs and other training initiatives, while fostering a culture of continuous improvement and best practices.
  • Perform any additional related tasks or responsibilities as required to support departmental and organizational goals.

Job requirements

  • A post-secondary degree in Materials Management, Supply Chain, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years in a materials-focused role, including 2+ years in a supervisory or managerial capacity.
  • Proficiency with Warehouse Management Systems (preferably Solidat) and automotive MRP systems.
  • Expertise in Inventory Control, MRP, and supply chain processes, including raw materials, purchased components, and outside processors.
  • Demonstrated skills in ERP systems (preferably Trans4M/CMI) and familiarity with WMS in a manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of Canadian and U.S. customer requirements, including Supplier Performance, Supplier Trucking, and Customs regulations.
  • Good understanding of production and shipping processes, particularly in automotive manufacturing.
  • Forklift License, Aerial Lift Certified, Lift Pump Truck Certified, and Train-the-Trainer certifications.
  • In-depth knowledge of CTPAT compliance and security procedures.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and basic accounting principles.
